Regarding the Q&A on Residual Current Circuit Breaker
sign_3.webp

What is the difference between 10mA, 30mA, and 100mA sensitivity?

10mA is for personal protection in wet or high-risk areas (e.g., bathrooms, pools). 30mA is the standard for general personnel protection in homes and offices. 100mA is primarily for fire prevention and equipment protection.

Can I use a 2P RCCB on a single-phase system?

Yes, a 2P (2-pole) RCCB is designed for single-phase systems (live + neutral). A 4P RCCB is for three-phase systems (3 phases + neutral).

Will an RCCB protect against short circuits or overloads?

No. An RCCB only protects against earth leakage (ground faults). You must pair it with an MCB or use an RCBO for combined protection against short circuits and overloads.

Why does my RCCB trip frequently without an apparent fault?

Possible causes include: moisture in the circuit, damaged insulation on an appliance, a neutral-to-earth fault, or a too-sensitive setting for the environment. Try unplugging all devices and reconnecting them one by one to isolate the issue.

Do HD/HID series RCCBs fit standard distribution boards?

Yes. HD/HID series RCCBs have standard widths: 36mm for 2P and 72mm for 4P. They mount on a 35mm DIN rail, which is the industry standard for low-voltage panels.
