Regarding the Q&A on Moulded Case Circuit Breaker
sign_3.webp

What does Ics = 100% Icu mean for me?

It means the breaker can interrupt a short-circuit at its full rating (Icu) and still be reused (serviceable). This saves replacement costs after a fault. Many other brands require derating.

How do I adjust the current setting on the HM3 series?

Rotate the dial on the front of the breaker to set the desired trip current between 80% and 100% of the frame rating. Use a dial sealing device (optional) to prevent unauthorized changes.

Can I use an HM3-125 for a 100A continuous load?

Yes, but set the adjustable dial to 100A (80% of 125A frame). For continuous loads, do not exceed 80% of the frame rating to avoid nuisance tripping from heat buildup.

What is the difference between 3P and 4P MCCB?

A 3P breaker switches only the three phases. A 4P breaker switches three phases plus neutral, used where neutral must be disconnected (e.g., generators, or for safety in some systems).

Is the HM3 series suitable for a solar combiner box?

Yes. HM3 series MCCBs are rated for 1000V insulation voltage (Ui) and can be used in DC solar applications with proper polarity. Contact us for specific DC ratings and derating factors.
